Rachael
My name is Rachael Patterson and I am a new mother to a gorgeous little 6 month old boy. I have been practicing off and on for 10 years, but I got serious at the beginning of my teacher training at Yama Yoga Studio in Canton, TX 3 years ago. My life has been a whirlwind of good fortune and growth ever since: now I’m in a great relationship with an amazing man and our Solomon has been the ultimate gift. A survivor of domestic violence myself, I have always wanted to do something in my community for survivors who are often in worse shape than I could even imagine. As a new mother, the idea of simultaneous kids and adult classes just made sense, and when we began looking at starting a business we wanted to find a way to make ourselves stand out while making a difference. My mother is on the board of an Educational Foundation in East Texas and has been a volunteer at school most of my life, my uncle has always
worked in the non-profit sector, and Jamie and I both have experience working with and for non-profits—so when the idea of turning our dream studio into a non-profit popped up, my excitement just exploded. Thus, Kutumba Yoga was concieved! I am so grateful to be a part of this journey, and I can’t wait to see where this work leads us!
